How do I get started?
Contact Marla to set up your free initial consultation. Have all your questions ready to be answered during this 30-minute conversation.
What Is Internal Family Systems Therapy?
IFS is an internal system, consisting of a Self and parts which organizes a person’s behavior, thought patterns, emotions and motivations. How many times have you said: “Part of me wants to do…and part of me wants to do…” These are your parts in action.
When there is trauma or other stressors, parts take on extreme roles and limit the ability of the Self to lead in an effective manner. The extreme roles of parts evolved in the service of emotional survival. When they are no longer adaptive, parts can be changed by working to give up extreme old roles, releasing the energy of the Self to lead effectively.
How long do sessions last?
A typical session lasts 45 minutes to an hour. Sessions can be done in person if geographically possible, or by phone or Skype if not.
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions cost $100 per hour. All fees are paid at the time of service by check, cash, or Paypal.
How often do we meet?
Initially, sessions occur every week. At some future time you may decide on an alternative schedule and move to every other week, or some interval that suits you best.
Do you give homework?
Yes, much of the work is done between our sessions. Reading, journaling, and recording dreams may all be part of your process if we decide together that it’s important.
